Default Hamilton Rookies Shield Round 3, 29 May 2011

This is round 3 of an exciting series (and now world famous) of one-day chess events for Rookies (rated under 1700 as at 1/1/2011) in 2011. See here for details and the results from round 2.

We are attracting many juniors to these events, many that have not played in chess tournaments before. Do not be worried if you have not played in tournaments before - we make sure everyone understands what is required. The events are held between 11am and 4.30pm on five separate Sundays, about 6 weeks apart. All events will be held in our new Hamilton Chess Centre, located near to the Waikato museum and Hamilton CBD (with plenty of off street parking).

The daily entry fee is just $10 ($15 for non-member adults), for 7 games of (G15/0) chess on that day, that includes a lunch break. Each day is treated as a separate tournament, but there will be additional prizes for the overall cumulative score winners from all 5 events.

Cash Prizes will be given as a minimum for overall 1st and 2nd, the best adult, best unrated player, and the best U18, U16, U14, U12, U10 ans U8 players (players can only win one prize). The prize pool is 80% of entry fees after expenses - so more entries means more prizes!

Please look here for more details and please register before the day, so we can start on time.
